The job:

As a Packaging Engineer at stichd you are creating and developing effective designs to create packaging that’s functional, cost effective and fits a projects brief. This involves generating ideas and concepts in collaboration with our Creative Marketing department, testing different designs and working closely with our manufacturing partners to secure the manufacturing process, and reviewing the efficiency of the final packaging. Our Packaging Engineer is a creative problem-solver who can overcome design’s potential obstacles. You are a great communicator who work well as part of a team and can spot potential pitfalls in a design.

Your mission:

  • Develop Packaging Concepts; your primary task is developing a range of packaging concepts in coordination with the finalized products or materials, so that the packaging is compatible. You will work together with internal teams to evaluate packaging requirements at all developmental phases;
  • Conduct Product Research; you incorporate consumer and industry research into the designs. This requires carrying out in-depth investigations into the latest trends, pricing architectures, and any potential obstacles that may come up during the testing stage;
  • Develop Engineering and Manufacturing Specifications; you will prepare documentation in line with engineering protocols and regulations and ensure that the manufacturing specifications are compliant with our company policy and values;
  • Maintain and store packaging related information; you will have the responsibility to maintain the PLM (product lifecycle management) system on any packaging related information and share finalized packaging BOM’s through to our manufacturing partners;
  • Review Design Efficiency; you will review the development processes and designs itself to make sure designs and/or processes are as efficient and functional as possible;
  • Provide Technical Support; you work closely with our manufacturing partners, helping them with any technical guidance and support they may need.

Your talent:

  • Education; you have a relevant Bachelor education, with 3+ years of work experience in a similar position. Preferably in a sports-lifestyle industry or international organization with a global brand;
  • Technical skills; extensive structural and graphic experience with packaging, proficient in Adobe creative suite programs, especially Illustrator, knowledge of CAD tools is a preference;
  • Creative skills; you are innovative, interested, organized, detail-oriented and able to prioritize, to come up with new ideas that match the brief;
  • Soft skills; you are the trouble-shooter for issues as they arise, pro-active and a self-starter that is highly motived to work in a fast-paced growing environment;
  • Communication; able to translate the brief into packaging designs and able to create clear communication for your stakeholders. You are fluent in English.
